I Was Asked to Rate My Marriage on a Scale of 1-10 (Confessions of an Ambitious Entrepreneurial Wife).

Recently, on a health intake form, I was asked to rate my marriage on a scale from 1-10. 1 being the worst, 10 being the best.

Without a thought, I rated my marriage an instant 10.

I didn't have to consider it or weigh things. It just is what it is — a 10.

But it wasn't always that way.

There were seasons as an entrepreneur where I put myself first — I put my ambitions first.

There were times as an entrepreneur when I was so obsessively focused on earning that I didn't have the posture to be a good or present wife.

I left the dirty dishes all over the house and the yard (and told other women to focus on their businesses instead of always tidying up).

I cooked, sure, but I never saw it as my job and I certainly wasn’t reliable in that area.

There were times I thought my husband and I were seriously headed in two different directions, and times we lost respect for one another.

What changed? How'd we get to the instant 10?

  • I slowed down.

  • I stopped driving the boat.

  • I made the kitchen my work zone.

  • I humbled myself.

  • I rediscovered genuine respect for him (and he for I).

  • I started prioritizing him and developed a character of genuinely wanting to please him.

  • Taking care of him became my first and most important objective.

Look at me with all the "I I I." ^

Watch me check myself: *I* can't take any credit for the 10 I rated us, because what happened to create that 10 is so much deeper than me changing on my own.

What happened was this:

After 10 years of believing in what I now call “ascension-theory" I began to intellectually consider a Biblical worldview.

And during the intellectual consideration of a Biblical worldview I came to understand how wrong I was about most everything.

I'm sure you've seen dozens and dozens of people going through the same process and coming to the same conclusion (maybe you’re one of them).

Anyway, I’m getting back to work (as a Copywriter) with my house now in order.

My husband, my children and my home come first.

After that you can catch me working intently on a client’s best marketing angle and the striking sales page copy that follows.
